Should You Wear Make-Up While Trying to Clear Acne?

Is it okay to wear make-up when you are trying to clear up acne? Although you may hear it is not good to wear makeup while trying to clear acne, you will be happy to know that generally wearing makeup is not the cause to acne breakouts. A lot of women use makeup or creams to cover up those unsightly acne blemishes.

However, it is equally important not to wear the wrong makeup because it could accentuate the acne you are trying to conceal. A best practice solution to avoid this mistake would be to carefully read the labels to make sure the products you are choosing will not clog your pores and cause the acne to get worse.

Choosing the Right Make-Up?

In the past makeup was heavier and often oil-based, which led to blockage of the skin pores and an increased occurrence of acne. However, it is suggested that the best practice is to choose to make-up that is oil-free, because it is less likely to clog your pores and cause or worsen acne breakouts. Modern cosmetics are water-based and oil-free You would also want to choose to make up products that will not further irritate your skin.  Hypo-allergenic and fragrance-free brands are also good options to select from. If you find that you have applied any specific type of makeup that results in an acne flare-up, it is best to avoid that product.

Cleansing Your Skin

Never go to bed without removing your makeup and cleansing your skin. This applies to mineral make-up as well. Establishing a nightly routine wash not only removes make-up, but excess oil, sweat and dirt.

Your make-up should never be scrubbed off, however is should be carefully and gently with a mild cleanser. The Butter Bar Skin Care collection offers several natural cleansing options for your nightly skin care regimen.

What Type of Moisturizers Work Best with Acne?

Although you may be experiencing an acne flare up or breakout, it is still important to keep your skin moisturized. Especially after the cleansing process of your makeup removal.
