My 4 Favorite DIY Makeup Remover Recipes - EVER!!!

My 4 Favorite DIY Makeup Remover Recipes - EVER!!!

So, the other day I was telling you how Gawd-awful it was to sleep in your makeup. If you missed it: here you go! Naturally, one would need some type of makeup remover in the first place in order to actually utilize this information. You could just wash your face with your daily cleanser, but that is no guarantee that all the residue is gone at the end of the day. Using makeup remover before cleansing your skin is the only way to make sure all the gunk is gone!

One problem- you and I are all about that no-chemical, non-toxic, raw-natural skincare life tho! And most commercial makeup removers contain stuff that just doesn't fit into this category. Things like mineral oil (my personal nemesis), sorbic acid (not to be confused with ascorbic acid), methylparaben, titanium dioxides, perfumes..you see what we're dealing with? So, naturally, I will be sharing my favorite DIY makeup removing recipes that fit better into your lifestyle!

First Up....The 50/50

This is by far the easiest to make. You just need:

  • 1/4 cup Witch Hazel (all-natural and alcohol-free please)
  • 1/2 cup of your favorite carrier oil (my personal favorite is avocado oil)
  • A mixing bowl and a few cotton pads for dipping and wiping

Mix the witch hazel and oil together and use your cotton pad to wipe your makeup away. Make sure you are gentle when going around your eye area, and try not to get it close to your inner eye rim.

Next Up....The "E-Z"

This one is only trickier because you have to acquire some good, quality vitamin E. But if you can get it, it's well worth it because vitamin E is FANTASTIC for caring for your skin and great for the skin around your eyes!

  • 1 oz. vitamin E oil (Only use 100% pure. Any other type has additives!)
  • 1 oz. of your favorite carrier oil (try not to use coconut oil though)
  • 3 drops of your favorite (soothing and eye-safe) essential oil (may I suggest lavender or carrot seed oil)
  • A mixing bowl and a few cotton pads for dipping and wiping

Mix all your oils together and use your cotton pad to wipe your makeup away. ALWAYS: Make sure you are gentle when going around your eye area, and try not to get it close to your inner eye rim.

If You Enjoy Quickies....The "1- Step Best Bet"

This for those who don't want to mix a damn thing!

  • Pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
  • A few cotton pads for dipping and wiping

Just pour EVOO on your cotton pad and wipe away!

Last But Not Least....The "Cool Cuke"

Because some of us DIYers like to show out!

  • 1 peeled whole cucumber (Cucumbers have anti-inflammatory properties, so they will help to soothe irritated skin or acne-prone skin)
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • A food processor or blender, bowl and a few cotton pads for dipping and wiping

Puree all your ingredients together and use your cotton pad to wipe your makeup away.

So, you have no more excuses not to remove your makeup at the end of the day. Let's not have to keep having this discussion. Lol. Let me know if you try any of these DIY's by commenting on any post on Instagram (we're @MyButterBarSkincare) and if they worked for you!
