7 At Home Face Masks
- Honey and lemon
Honey and lemon work beautifully together to brighten and smooth the complexion and it is particularly good for people who suffer with acne. Lemon brightens and exfoliates the skin, while the honey will fight acne causing bacteria and reduce inflammation. Mix up one tablespoon of lemon juice with two tablespoons of honey. Apply it to your skin and leave it on for about 10 minutes. (you may choose to avoid this treatment, as it might be too harsh if you have delicate sensitive skin).
- Papaya and yogurt
Papaya contains a natural ingredient called papain, which gently lightens dark patches and blemishes. Blend half a cup of papaya into a paste and then stir in a tablespoon of plain yogurt. Apply to your face and leave it to sit for ten minutes before you wash it off again with warm water. The combination of papaya and yogurt will brighten your complexion and firm up the skin.
- Avocado and honey
Avocado has amazing benefits for skin and it’s great for putting the life back into dull, lackluster skin. Avocado moisturizes the skin and it also contains anti-inflammatory ingredients that will reduce any irritation and redness on the skin. The honey in this recipe will fight infection and bring back the glow to your skin. Mix the flesh of half an avocado with a teaspoon of honey, apply it on the skin, and leave to sit for around ten minutes.
Turmeric is another one of amazing, ancient beauty ingredients that can be used to brighten the skin and improve the complexion. It contains powerful antiseptic ingredients and antioxidants. Add turmeric powder to milk until you have a fine paste. Then, apply to the skin, leave it on until it has dried (for about 10 minutes), and then wash off with lukewarm water.
- Coconut milk and honey
Coconut milk has wonderful skin nourishing properties that will soon have your skin looking radiant and glowing again. Mix two teaspoons of coconut milk with a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. Massage the mixture gently into your face and then leave it to sit for ten minutes. You can then rinse it off with warm water.
- Oatmeal and tomato
The best way to bring back the glow to your face is by encouraging new skin cells to grow, by removing the dead ones. If you mix tomatoes with oatmeal you have the ideal combination of exfoliating ingredients and skin nourishing ones. Mix oatmeal with freshly made tomato juice until you have a paste and then apply it to your face; and leave it to sit for twenty minutes. As with all these face mask recipes, you will get the best results if you repeat this treatment regularly.
- Aloe vera gel
Aloe vera gel can restore the skin’s natural color and it will also moisturize and nourish the skin too. Simply apply fresh aloe vera gel to the skin and leave it to sit for about ten minutes before you wash it off.
Make sure you are not allergic to the ingredients of these homemade treatments before applying them to your face.
