You’ve waited all week long; it’s FINALLY the weekend! You have a babysitter for the kids and now you and your significant other can head out for date night. You arrive at the restaurant and your delicious five-star meal comes to the table. As you prepare to enjoy your meal, you take notice that all of your eating utensils are filthy! Absolutely unacceptable, right? The same rule applies for your skin utensils. Do not, we repeat, DO NOT use dirty makeup brushes and skincare tools (facial/body brushes, loofahs, sponges etc.) Also, be conscious of how long you keep your beauty tools and know when to rotate them. For now, we’ll just cover how to properly clean our makeup brushes.
Did you know that the bristles of a makeup brush are porous? This means that the bristles in the makeup brushes absorb all product, dirt, oil, and bacteria that may be floating around in your makeup bag. Be sure to always keep your brushes covered and stored properly in between uses. Make it a regular habit to wash your brushes every 7-10 days depending on how often you use them. If you don’t wear makeup frequently, then cleansing every 3-4 uses would be a pretty good benchmark for keeping your beauty tools clean.
Check out our easy step-by-step tutorial on how to clean your makeup brushes below!
STEP 1: Allow the brushes to become saturated with water and rinse out any excess product.
STEP 2: Apply a small amount of makeup removing cleanser and gently massage the cleanser throughout the bristles of the brush. You may repeat this step twice to ensure a thorough cleaning.
STEP 3: Rinse the soap from your brush and reshape the head of the brush.
STEP 4: Allow the brushes to dry completely then cover them by avoiding excess dust settling in the freshly cleansed bristles.
There you have it beauties! A super easy beauty tools cleaning routine that is sure to keep your makeup kit fresh and flawless!
