Beauties, I’m sure you’ve noticed the uninvited guest inhabiting your face space every now and then. You know, those ones that smile back at you in the mirror and like to rear their ugly blackheads for all to see? I mean, we did not summon them intentionally! They just showed up for different reasons, and they are undoubtedly showing out at our complexion's expense. Excuse us, but all you clogged visitors have got to go! It’s extractions time!

Who has time for mild cases of acne aka blackheads or comedones? When our hair follicles become clogged, and these repulsive dark specks/bumps appear. Brewing dead skin cells and the mixture of oil residing inside of our pores. Welp… it’s just gross!

Getting Down to The ROOT of The BLACKHEAD:

* Face not thoroughly cleansed

* Using the wrong types of oil-based moisturizers

* Using oil based makeup- especially foundation

* Environmental pollutants- everyday smog and dirt floating in the air

Extracting Gunk From Pores:

Try These Blackhead Removal Masks:

  • 1 egg white
  • ½ t. Turmeric powder
  • 1 ½ t. Lemon juice
  • 1 facial tissue/cut into pieces

Whip up the food ingredients together in a bowl. Using a masking brush, craft paint brush or back of a clean and sanitized spoon (try not to use your hands), apply a small amount of mask to the nose and other affected areas. Place the thin facial tissue pieces over the freshly applied mask and reapply mixture. Let completely dry. Remove mask by peeling it away. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Mask # 2

  • 1 ½ T. unflavored gelatin
  • 2 ½ T milk

Mix these two items together in a microwave safe bowl. Heat mixture 15-20sec., stir and when the mask is at a good temperature, (do an arm check first to make sure it is not too hot) promptly brush on the mask while still warm and pliable. Let dry completely. Remove mask by peeling it away slowly. Rinse your face with lukewarm water.

FINGERTIP WARNING: Before even thinking about popping blackheads you need to know the risks. You take the chance of possibly driving the germs much deeper into the pore as well as creating the contamination, inflammation, and redness for getting a whole lot worse. Additionally, you risk distributing the problem to other pores and creating a breakout of numerous blackheads and acne. And additionally, you risk forever destroying the pore and producing scarring damage. Popping a blackhead really should not be taken casually. Extracting blackheads with fingertips will expand many chances for hyperpigmentation to develop.

Heed the warning and challenge yourself to keep your hands far away from your face. Taking the time for daily cleansing, toning, and moisturizing will set your skin up for healthier outcomes.
